Bio

My name is Lucy Beese and I recently completed my Masters by Research here at the University of Bristol, where I used repeat LiDAR data from Malaysian Borneo to map yield gaps in oil palm agriculture. I am now continuing on as a PhD student in the group, funded by the Bristol Centre for Agricultural Innovation and the Fondazione Edmund Mach. My PhD, which is co-supervised by Dr Michele Dalponte, will explore how we can use remote sensing time-series data to quantify the impacts different disturbance agents on forest ecosystems (e.g. logging, heatwaves, storms, pathogens), and track their subsequent recovery through time.

Besides work I am a keen indoor gardener (albeit with brown thumbs!) and I also enjoy creating art in my spare time.
