Bio

I hold a BSc in Forestry from Copperbelt University in Zambia and an MSc in Biometry from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. After completing my MSc, I spent six years teaching biometry to undergraduate students at Copperbelt University.

My research interests are broadly in the field of forest biometrics – specifically tree allometry and forest ecosystem biomass and growth modelling. I’m also interested in developing methods to quantify and monitor deforestation and forest degradation and their drivers. In September 2021 I joined the University of Bristol as a PhD student funded by a Commonwealth Scholarship. My PhD will use novel terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) methods to quantify the architecture, allometry and biomass of trees in Zambia’s Miombo woodlands in order to better understand how these are constrained by climate, ecology and disturbance.

Outside of my academic and professional work, I enjoy playing and watching football. I also enjoy travelling and singing.
