Bio
I am a PhD student at the University of Bristol, funded through a scholarship from Mexico’s Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). I am particularly interested in the biotic and abiotic processes that give rise to variation in forest structure and biomass across landscapes – from tree diversity and functional traits, to topography and soil nutrients. As part of my PhD I will be using a range of field and remote sensing approaches to understand how tree diversity influences forest ecosystem functioning across different spatial and temporal scales.
My passion for nature is something I took from my father and growing up in Yucatan a defining moment of my childhood was when we saved a jaguar. This led me on path to study biology as an undergraduate in Mexico and later undertake a Master’s degree in ecology from Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China.
After work, I usually go to the gym or play field hockey, although I like all sports. I also love to travel and listening to techno music.
